State Mary’s is semi-regular blog about Southampton Football Club. It’s ten months old (as of August ‘23) and I’ve published fourteen times, so let’s call it monthly.

Because there’s already loads of content about the men’s first team, its players, transfers, tactical analysis and match reports, I’m trying to write something a bit wider in scope. I also write about matchday experiences, fan feelings, the ownership, club politics, community relations, the academy and the women’s team. But I write loads about the men’s first team too, for all the same reasons you follow it.

I don’t care who reads but it’s nice to hear back from people that do. I don’t live near the city anymore and I miss engaging with people about my club. I grew up in Romsey and now live in South London. I have a season ticket and get the train down on weekends. I don’t work in football, but I’m a researcher and mostly write for a living.

You can get it straight to your email and I share anything I write on Twitter and Facebook.

You, reading my shit.

Thanks for reading State Mary's. Subscribe and you won’t even have to read my tweets.
